I am a very happy Nios/Cyclone hardware/software do-it-all kinda guy. I've created a custom board modeled around the excellent development kit reference design for our product's "brain".

dvb: I must say that I have had many, many laughs from your comments deep within the Nios SDK code. Thanks for making my project quite enjoyable!

Our board is for a proprietary application. The devkit was very helpful in getting our project up and running -- especially the configuration section using the MAX7000A + flash, safe and user images, etc. I used the same SRAM, SDRAM, FLASH, and Ethernet chip too. The ethernet is on a separate bus however because my application is very network intensive and I'm using a fast HDL UDP layer.

Another Nios team member here. I'll try to drop by from time to time to sample the cool things going on, and maybe answer a question or two.

Well, since everyone is being so cordial, I thought I'd say "Hi".

I'm a hardware engineer here at Altera and designed the Nios II CPU cores.

I'll pop in here from time-to-time to see what's brewing. I'm doing this on my own time

but hope to be able to answer some Nios II CPU hardware-related questions (e.g. caches, pipelines),

issues about processor performance, or low-level software issues (e.g. interrupts, device drivers).

I'd really be interested to hear from users about which Nios II CPU configuration they are using

and issues related to the processor. I'd also like to hear about any new features you

might want to see added to future Nios II CPU releases.

I&#39;m glad to see so many Altera faces in here... heck, even some that I recognize. http://forum.niosforum.com/work2/style_emoticons/<#EMO_DIR#>/smile.gif I&#39;m one of the software developers currently working on the Nios II Linux project here at Microtronix. I expect to stop in every once in a while to see what&#39;s going on and possibly to answer questions. We&#39;ll see what my schedule permits.

I&#39;m Alan, and I&#39;m also on the Nios/Nios II team in Santa Cruz. I&#39;m here to help as well, but I&#39;m particularly interested in collecting feedback on Nios II in order to plan the road map of the product. Feel free to let me know how you are using Nios II, how you would like to use Nios II, or what new features/tools/etc. you&#39;d like to see in future releases of the Nios II development kits.

Ed here, new to NIOS. I&#39;m exploring NIOS as a replacement for all the microcontrollers I use (rabbit, 80xx, etc). Will be using the Cyclone. First job, integrate the NIOS with all kinds of custom peripherals. I&#39;ve gotten good at VHDL and have some Altera product experience. (quartus rocks).

Hope I mustn&#39;t be an ALTERA employee to say hi.

I&#39;m a NIOS user from the first beginning (since NIOS v1.0!) and have done my one designs based on the old APEX devkit. Actually I&#39;m doing a design with CYCLONE and "all on chip" NIOS.

Had my ups and downs with the ALTERA Software. But overall the NIOS system is a very flexible stuff - I like it. http://forum.niosforum.com/work2/style_emoticons/<#EMO_DIR#>/smile.gif

I&#39;m looking here from time to time what&#39;s going on to get some helpfull hint (or maybe to share some experiences with other NIOS guys).
