install "Nios II Linux v1.4 released"

hi! i've just tried to install the downloaded linux. there was an error message: "Cygwin extension were not installed properly. Please see README for instruction on how to install them ...

what include files should be checked at which location.

what Makefile should i try again?

could i have a problem with permissions etc.?
