InSight debugger instead of Eclipse debugger

Hi All, I would like to know if it is possible to use Insight Debugger Tool (which is also GDB based) , instead of eclipse plug-in provided in NIOS2 IDE ? Because I feel that Eclipse plug-in is ...

i've also used ddd on top of the gdb stuff and it works, as well.
