Have decided to return to Q4.2/N1.1

Has anyone else given up on Q5.1/Nios 5.1 and returned to the previous versions?

I installed Quartus 5.1 and Nios 5.1 As noted in my other posts, I had problems and found that SOPC ran vastly slower than in previous version.

Quartus 5.1, on the other hand, seemed OK. It compiled faster and produced more compact code.

In order to get things working again, I ended up uninstalling Quartus 5.1, Nios 5.1, and Nios 1.1 and then reinstalling Nios 1.1. I have the impression that there are problems when more than one version of Nios is installed (configuration file, maybe?) Possibly things would have been OK if I removed the old version and then installed the new version alone, but I didn't want to commit to the new version with projects underway.

Anyone else found that they had to do this? Anything else I might still try?
