Hardware reset when an alarm is running causes processor to hang

Can anyone help?

If I have an alarm running and the processor is given a hardware reset the code always hangs on the the first system timer interrupt coming out of reset. The reset works properly if there is no alarm running when it happens. I sthere a to ensure the alrams are reset properly on a hardware reset?
