I have analysed a Gigabit-MAC-IP-Core: Is it possible, that the Core received following values? The Burst were generated by a Gigabit-Net-Analyzer and transmitted over a Cat5e-Cable. So, I transmitted for example a burst with 100 Frames. The Interframe Gaps were justified with 96 ns, 96 µs, 960µs and 4,8 ms. Only once (4,8 ms and Framelength = 64 Byte) the Core recognized all transmiited frames. If the framelength or the interframe gap is increased frames got lost.... So, are theses results ok? In my opinion, the core isn`t able to work in Gigabit-Mode, is it?1 Reply

Hi Dubbi1900,
which Gigabit MAC IP Core did you use? In fact I'm thinking about using such an IP with NIOS II, but I need to know the level of SW support provided by ALtera. I do not know what your problem may be, but maybe your Nios does not manage to execute quickly enough. Marcus
