Yes, the MTIP does require a license if you plan to do more than use the core that ships with the kit. An evaluation version ships with our uKit and Altera's Nios II Evaluation Kit. There are two options for 10/100 Ethernet - license the MTIP core (www.morethanip.com for more info) or you can also look at our OpenCores.org EMAC kit. more information is available here.
