Development for ARM Using DS-5

Hi,

I am totally new to Embedded Systems and my mind is just blowing off trying to understand how should I start development with ARM.

I am using SoCKit by Altera which has FPGA as well as ARM unit. I have read a lot of documents about DS-5 and all seem to talk about porting Linux to the board and so on.

I want to run FFT on the ARM side of the device. Can someone tell me how can I use FFT algorithm provided by FFTW on this device ? Do I need to use DS-5 to compile the project and run on ARM ?
