DE2-70 and DM9000A

I have tried the TryOutuClinux files for DE2-70 board (zImage_DE2_70_NIOS_HOST_MOUSE_VGA_v1.1 andDE2_70_NIOS_HOST_MOUSE_VGA.sof ) and i'm getting following error messages during boot.

dm9000 Ethernet Driver

dm9000: read wrong id 0xffffffff

dm9000: read wrong id 0xffffffff

dm9000: wrong id: 0xffffffff

dm9000: not found (0).

Theese kernel and hardware images should work with DM9000A?

besides, DE2_70_NET example from terasic in debug mode, shows the same reading value for any acceded register.

Could be the DM9000A chip damaged?
