When I force safe board configuration on 1C20 dev board - can I expect the default software package in this board to use CF for any purpose? How can I see CF interface activity, not using uCLinux?

In example Quartus project ("full-featured") I do not see anything going to the proto1_IOxx pins of FPGA, normally connected to Proto1 board and CF interface. I hoped I could see some example app using CF interface on nios II running Micrium OS... Is there anything like that somewhere? Why CF 128M card with a sticker indicating 1C20 board and a version number 1.0 is included in the kit if the kit is not exercising it at all? Where this particular CF is used ? Am I missing something here ?
