CF interface

When I force safe board configuration on 1C20 dev board - can I expect the default software package in this board to use CF for any purpose? How can I see CF interface activity, not using uCLinux?

The "force safe" configuration, from Altera, does not exercise compact flash. Various versions of this design had the interface defined, but none have used it.

Note: what I say may not apply to uClinux; I don't know if they use CF or not.
