Anybody got jtagserver with USB blaster to work?

Hi *,

this could be off-topic for a NIOS discussion group, but I think some of you might have some similar Quartus installation problems under Linux.

I want to run a linux box as a remote jtag server with USB blaster programming hardware. But jtagconfig just says:

"Error (Server error) when scanning hardware"

though the hardware is properly connected and everything works fine under W*ndows. Ok, I am not using Red Hat but Debian (Sarge) - but could that be the only error source?

Thanx in advance for any suggestions -

Jochen

Sorry, but the USB Blaster isn't supported with Quartus (on Linux) presently. I *believe* this is being added for the Quartus II 4.2/Nios II 1.1 release which is nearing completion.

Ok, I 'll keep on waiting patiently...

However, the current version of "jtagconfig --extrahelp" (Quartus 4.1) displays:

--add <hardware> Specifies the port to which you attached new programming

    <port> [<name>] hardware. For example, &#39;jtagconfig --add byteblastermv lpt1&#39;

specifies that you attached a ByteBlasterMV cable to port

LPT1. You can also use &#39;[<name>]&#39; to add a string that

describes the hardware to the output from the

    &#39;jtagconfig --enum&#39; command.

The JTAG Server automatically detects cables that you attach

to a USB port, therefore you do not need to use this command

    for these cables.

That&#39;s why I supposed that USB Blaster is already implemented..

We have been using Jtagserver and USB blaster with Q 4.2

Someone else set the machines up, but it is possible. If I can find any specific instructions, I&#39;ll post them.
