Altera installation error in lucid ubuntu

Question

Hi everyone ,

I am new to this forum and trying to figure out a problem in trying to install altera [filename : alteraXX.sh ] and [ 10.0_programmer_linux ] in my lucid ubuntu Box.I have search many places and unable to find any useful appropriate info.Please some one help me ASAP , and please do toloerate any misappropriate post or place i have made.

when trying to install i get error :

Fontconfig error: "conf.d", line 1: no element found

Fontconfig warning: line 73: unknown element "cachedir"

Fontconfig warning: line 74: unknown element "cachedir"

altera_installer/bin/altera_installer_gui: symbol lookup error: /usr/lib32/libXi.so: undefined symbol: XESetWireToEventCookie

Sounds like there is a .so that is causing issues in your distro. You can work around it.

You can download the stand-alone installers here: https://www.altera.com/download/software/quartus-ii-se

You will probably need to log in to Altera.

Altera reports this problem in their installation FAQ on their download page, the one symptom that you did not mention, but is discussed in the FAQ is that the Installation GUI has unreadable fonts. See the following link to the specific workaround in the FAQ:
