Linux OS for ARM Cortex A9 processor

We are planning to use ARM Cortex A9 processor with Linux as the embedded OS. Please help us with the following questions:

(1) What is the embedded Linux OS that work well with ARM Cortex A9 processor on Altera Stratix IV dev kit? For example, the DE4 Stratix IV dev kit (EP4SGX530C2).

(2) In the Altera website, there is a list of embedded OS with associated processors (www .altera. com/devices/processor/embedded-alliance/proc-embed-partners.html#os). How can we get the Linux OS supplied by Altera (refer link, table 1, row 11)?

The Stratix IV GX does not contain an ARM core.

You need to look on the Altera web site at the SoC devices (Arria and Cyclone).

You are, right. I just noticed there isn't any ARM core for Stratix IV. My bad :(

    Thanks for highlighting this, Dave.

    Hi Dave,

For Nios II Fast processor, does it support standard Linux OS (besides the Linux OS supplied by the Altera partners)?

I don't use NIOS II or NIOS II with Linux. Post a new forum question to see what others can tell you.

Personally, I see no point in running Linux on 100MHz processor. External processors are inexpensive and much faster, eg., Freescale MPC8308 PowerPC processor, TI Sitara ARM processor.

    Cheers,

    Dave
