Using python with upboard and intelrealsense d435

Hello, good morning, I bought an intel real sense D435 camera and an aaeon UPboard card, I am using python to program, I already installed all the libraries, my question is: can you measure distance with the camera and depending on a distance limit turn on a led or something like that? please anyone have an example? I'm stuck in that, I would really appreciate someone giving me an example or help how to do this.
