The MT25-series from Mircon could be a good replacement for the old M25 i guess.

Even if the MT25 supports dual I/O for higher transfer rates, it will boot in standard "single-channel-SPI".

Today a 128Mbit flash costs nothing, and gives great opportunities for example to have more than one FPGA project inside.
