Unique Chip ID on Intel Arria 10 device

Hi Intel guys,

We have few questions relating to Chip ID on Intel Arria 10 device and hope to receive feedback from you guys.

1. Is there a way that we can get the Chip ID via JTAG without a FPGA image which is instantiating a Unique Chip ID IP core pre-programmed into the device. If yes, are we able to get the ID using Intel software (i.e Quartus) or is there a simple software/driver already developed to read it out?

2. We are going to utilize the Chip ID number in order to implement a mechanism for image authentication and protection. Since this ID value is considered highly critical for our algorithm, we must be confident about the accuracy of the return value. Hence is there a way to confirm whether the Unique Chip ID read out is correct or not?

Regards!

    Hi,

You can use Quartus SignalTap or System Console to read the chip ID on Intel FPGA device.

Please refer to following link for demonstration video how to read Chip ID via Quartus SignalTap or System Console.
