Time dependant Power consumption estimation

Hello,

I would like to know if the feature "PowerPlay Power Estimator" can be used to obtain the power consumed during a given algorithm, I'll explain myself ;)...

I need to check the stability of the consumption of a algorithm for different inputs, to do so i ran gatelevel simulations to compare the switching activities but i would like to have a more accurate power model.

I've recently seen that Quartus II allows to estimate the power consumed during timing simulation but i would need the complete power consumtion curve for a given input. Perhaps the idea would be to estimate the power consumption for each (gatelevel) simulation steps. Hence my question is : Does the PowerPlay Power Estimator would allow in some manner to do this ? :confused:

If not, how can i exploit the PowerPlay Excel sheet to find out good parameters for my power model taking as input switching activity
