Starting with Intel FPGAs

Hi All,

I’m about to start using Intel FPGAs and I’m still uncertain about the best FPGA to use for my application. The application will primarily involve image processing, with two cameras connected to the board. The FPGA will need to read from both cameras, perform image processing tasks such as detection, recognition, and possibly identification, as well as decode the video. I’m looking for an affordable solution. What would you suggest?

Additionally, is there any chance that Intel FPGAs might be subject to export control restrictions? If there's a list or resource that details this, could you please share the link?

    Hi,

    It all depends on how complex your project will be.

    I'd suggest buying a devkit with some Cyclone 10 GX it's not so expensive. If budget is not a problem, you can take Intel Arria 10, there's already a hard CPU like dual-core Arm Cortex-A9 in there.

    Then go downgrade or upgrade depending on performance.

    With well optimised code the final mass product can run on Cyclone 10 or Cyclone V
