SoC: Example C-code for accessing Avalon Slave peripherals?

I know this thread is a few months old by now, but did you ever figure out what you were looking for, Jeff? I actually need to do the same sort of thing now (read and write from a slave peripheral).

So far I think I have the writing to the slave figured out (the example in http://zhehaomao.com/blog/fpga/2013/12/27/sockit-3.html just uses a simple assignment of a pointer), but can't figure out how to read from the slave....

By the way, the link to the pdf given earlier in this thread seems to be broken. That sounds like a helpful resource - can anyone re-link it for me?
