Read from and write on DDR2 memory from PC without NIOS over USB?

Dear Folks,

I am using a DE3 kit from Terasic.

I need to download data from PC to the DDR2 memory on the DE3 and read back from the memory over USB or JTAG interface. For example, I want to download data to the DDR2 memory from MATLAB on PC without using NIOS.

Is that any possibility to do it? Anyone has an example, reference, or useful web page for this?
