15 years agoquartus 11.0 sp1 cannot work?
Hi,
I installed quartus 11.0 sp1 but when I used it to open projects made by quartus 10 it exited without any message,and when I used it to creat a new project it gave me the following message and exited: Internal Error: Sub-system: PDB, File: /quartus/db/pdb/pdb_archive.cpp, Line: 2851 pdb_id <= object_info->m_ptr_table_size Stack Trace: 0x240d: err_report_internal_error + 0x1d (CCL_ERR) 0x9424: __alldiv + 0x11d4 (DB_PDB) 0x6712: PDB_SEGMENT_READER::xfr_ptr + 0x12 (DB_PDB) 0x1d1d0: pdb_array_xfr_<PDB_DDB_SEG_BASE,DEV_ELEMENT_DESC * [1311]> + 0x40 (DDB_DEV) 0x4da3: DEV_BASIC_INFO_BODY::operator<< + 0x173 (DDB_DEV) 0x1ce3b: PDB_BASE_CLASS_THUNK<DEV_BASIC_INFO_BODY>::constructor + 0x3b (DDB_DEV) 0x7429: PDB_OBJECT_INFO::finish_reading + 0x39 (DB_PDB) 0x25ed: pdb_read_ptr + 0x7d (DB_PDB) 0x1c6b6: pdb_read_<PDB_ARCHIVE,DEV_BASIC_INFO_BODY> + 0x96 (DDB_DEV) 0x16f66: DEV_BASIC_INFO_BODY::load_hdr_from_pdb + 0x206 (DDB_DEV) 0x1836c: DEV_BASIC_INFO::load_data + 0x10c (DDB_DEV) 0x3c83: MEM_SEGMENT_INTERNAL::allocate + 0x43 (ccl_mem) 0x3d43: operator new + 0x63 (ccl_mem) 0xe5a4: _Dinkum_std::basic_string<char,_Dinkum_std::char_traits<char>,MEM_STL_ALLOCATOR<char> >::assign + 0x84 (DDB_DEV) 0x2953f: DEV_BASIC_INFO_BODY::set_enum_data + 0x2f (DDB_DEV) 0x665d: DMGR_UTILITY_BODY::create_basic_info + 0x23d (DDB_DMGR) 0x108b8: DMGR_UTILITY_BODY::create_typical_device + 0x2f8 (DDB_DMGR) 0x488b9: DSET_DEVICE::init_device_list_headers + 0xe9 (saui_dset) 0x63db7: malloc + 0x78 (MSVCR90) 0x6fbab: _dset_device + 0x5b (saui_dset) 0x2a3f: BMWQ_NPW_DEVICE::BMWQ_NPW_DEVICE + 0xcf (sys_bmwq) 0x1115a: _bmwq_dyn_new_project_wizard + 0x47a (sys_bmwq) 0x515fa: QUI_PRJ_UI_MGR::new_prj_wiz_action + 0x26a (SYS_QUI) 0xe16a: QUI_FRAME_WND::qt_metacall + 0x8fa (SYS_QUI) 0x88ba: QGQ_MAIN_WINDOW::qt_metacall + 0x1a (SYS_QGQ) 0xe0eae: QMetaObject::metacall + 0x3e (QtCore4) 0xc57d: QAction::activate + 0xcd (QtGui4) 0x348a28: QMenu::findIdForAction + 0x288 (QtGui4) 0x34e500: QMenu::internalDelayedPopup + 0x680 (QtGui4) End-trace Quartus II Version 11.0 Build 208 07/03/2011 SJ Full Version Service Pack Installed: 1 I have installed and uninstall it three times,the results were the same.9 Replies

Hi,
I formatted one of my optional computers ,reinstalled windows xp and then reinstalled the quartus 11.0 sp1,now it can work on this computer.It seems that quartus 11.0 conflicts with some software.Is that right? Is there anyone can give me some ideal to avoid this situation since I can not format the computers currently used. - Altera_Forum

I have this problem too. I've just uninstalled v10.1sp1 and installed v11.0sp1 and it won't work.
Opening a existing (v10.0sp1) project makes it close without a message and creating a new project give me two errors with a backtrace. Have you got any feedback from Altera already? I have no spare computer to install Quartus and I can't wait long... Thanks a lot! - Altera_Forum

I just finished building a brand new machine with win7 64 bit last night.
The first thing I did was install Quartus 11 sp1 and tried to open a project that had been built using the same version of Quartus on a 32 bit machine in work. Every time I tried to open the project Quartus bombed out without an error message. I'm a >15 year Altera user and have been pretty happy with the tools. After issues trying to get the PCI Lite core to work (it didn't) and recent experiences with Qsys and the hard PCIe core in a CycloneIV and now this I'm starting to get really ****ed off. FIXED
After uninstalling 11.0 again, cleaning the registry (with CCleaner) and installing everything again (Quartus 11.0, devices and then sp1) I finally got it working. - Altera_Forum

Is there a sequence to follow to proceed the installation of Quartus? (i.e. Quartus -> Devices -> Quartus SP1)
Thanks in advance ---------------------------------------- I followed the last suggestion, and now Quartus is working as a charm! Thanks all! - Altera_Forum

I had exactly the same problem when I installed 11.0 SP1 on 64-bit win7. Everything was fine after installing 11.0 SP2.
You can find the package on altera ftp.
