Programming the Arria 10 GX FPGA Development Kit

Hello, Can I program this kit's FPGA using a .sof file or do I need to first generate a .flash file? Please include instructions if a .sof file is sufficient. Thanks.

(DK-DEV-10AX115S-A) is still in warranty. I am in the process of applying for RMA.
