Programming sof using different firmware

Hi,

The Quartus programmer requires the firmware to program the sof. Does Quartus utilize firmware content during the compilation?

Not quite clear which firmware you mean. Generally Quartus programmer doesn't use firmware, except for USB Blaster II. Its driver (not Quartus programmer) loads a firmware for USB Blaster microcontroller.

The firmware is the device firmware used during the sof programming. It is located in C:\intelFPGA_pro\23.1\devices\programmer\firmware.

Does Quartus use the information in the firmware during the compilation?

    Hi,
as far as I'm aware of, "firmware" folder isn't used by Quartus programmer and neither in compilation. It's a toolkit for debugging purposes. In previous Quartus versions, it's located at quartus/common/devinfo/programmer/firmware.

What is the function of these zip files in the firmware folder ? Do we have any use case where the zip is being used?

      Hi Aiman,

I just want to understand the usage of the firmware in this folder, when and how it is being used.
