problem importing uclinux-dist into nios2 IDE, and trouble installing nios sp

running ACDS 11.0 on Linux, and when following Altera nios_ii_ide wiki page

and try to import uCLinux-dist into the IDE, got the following error message:

Failed to import project

Reason: Makefile is not Software Build Tools compatible

We thought maybe it was a tool-chain mismatching problem, and tried to install 11.0spl1_legacy_nios2_linux.sh service pack, but also failed, complaining about "ACDS intallation directory" not entered, although we did select the directory "11.0sp1" as the installation destination directory.
