Power Up DE1 Board by using battery

Hi, De1 Board is usually power up by using a 7.5 DC 0.75A adapter. I need to power up the board by using a battey so that my robot is free to move around. Is it possible to use a 8V 1A voltage...

so may i ask that what have you done with to power up the DE1 board. just a regulator? can you hook 7.2v battries straight to the power port.

is there any current limit range for the DE1 board
