pci express in Cyclone IV GX EP4CGX150BF14 FPGA

i have cyclone IV GX EPCGX150f14 FPGA and i want to test the pci express with a loopback . Thanks for any help you could offer.

I am a beginner in the PCI Express communication protocol.

First there are two IP configuration mode , root port and endpoint, I don't understand the difference between the two modes.

also I want to know the steps for configuring the IP and how the interface between IP and my application to be able to make transactions.
