Not able to identify Cyclone IV with Quartus2 on Windows11

Hello together,

meanwhile I have a Windows 11 Home 23H2 notebook and after long time I would like to play a little with my Terasic DE0_Nano board which contains a Altera Cyclone® IV EP4CE22F17C6N.

The DE0_Nano has an onboard programmer (USB-Blaster), however when I have installed either ...

  • Quartus-lite-18.1.0.625-windows
  • QuartusLiteSetup-23.1std.1.993-windows

Quartus hang up and give no response anymore or I get no checksum. After some searching in the web, I have seen that USB-Blaster isn't supported by Windows11. On the other hand, there are some work arounds or it is meantioned even a compatibility https://www.intel.com/content/www/us/en/support/programmable/support-resources/design-software/os-support.html#tab-blade-1-2

Does anybody can provide me a valid statement, wehter DE0_Nano and onboard USB-Blaster are working for instance with QuartusLiteSetup-23.1 or newer?

  • 23.1 should work fine in Windows 11. You should try reinstalling Quartus or just the USB Blaster drivers.

Are you saying it crashes/freezes when you start the Quartus Programmer? More details on exactly what is happening.

      Hello sstrell,

you're rigtht - I'm supprised but after tried to run it with Quartus-lite-18.1.0.625 (which was mentioned somewhere in the forum) I have retried with v23.1 again. I have open a really old beginner test-file and I was able to flash the Cyclone and I also could check the functionality sucessfully.

I'm suppriesed rigth now but also confirm that DE0_Nano is runnign with Quartus-lite-23.1.
