MAX10 Configuration as cpld

max10 is CPLD or FPGA? wanted to use this device to as a CPLD with Non-volatile configuration. Unlike FPGAs, How to do it for cpld configuration? Regards Vraifluss

Hi,

as stated on the ALTERA WebSite - MAX10 "Section", the MAX10 are FPGA (even when being listed both, as FPGA and CPLD om product page). Contrary to other FPGA, they include the configuration memory (no separate IC required). They are based on SRAM and need to be configured contrary to CPLD, but MAX10 supports so called "instant - ON", significantly reducing this configuration on Power-ON time (see also => https://documentation.altera.com/#/00004271-AA$NT00066378). For this quite short time, they are also at least near to CPLD behaviour regarding power ON condition.

If you really need a CPLD, you might have to use e.g. MAX V devices..
