Lcd on cyclone iii not displaying and boardtest system.exe could not be found

Good day, Although I am a bit new to altera cyclone iii board but I have been following the instruction in the user manual to configure my board. I realized upon powering the board through the instruction stated in the manual, the two LCD are blank and even I could not retrieve the assigned IP address when it was time to connect it to the internet to receive update files through an ethernet cable. Although the board itself powers on and all necessary LED came up as stated in the manual but the LCDs refused to display. Is there any button or instruction I ought to have followed.?

Secondly, I could not see the boardtestsystem.exe file in my installation. Where and what have I done wrong?. Kindly assist with necessary information.

    Have you connected the board, via the ethernet cable, to a network that will assign it an IP address - i.e. one with a DHCP server? That should assign it an IP address that should (typically) appear on the LCD display. You should the be able to put that IP address into your browser to connect to the board.

    The 'BoardTestSystem.exe' is typically in a '..\examples\board_test_system\' folder under the kit's installation folder. If it's not there I suggest you re-download the 'kit installation' and re-install it.

    Thanks so much for your quick reply sir. As for the BTS, I was able to solve that by downloading and installing version 11.1 but the LCD still didn't display anything. the network cable is attached and is connected to a DHCP (automatic) assigning network, the same network my laptop is connected. the LED displayed beside the network lights up as shown in the attached image which shows that the network cable is seen and perhaps the IP has been assigned. but nothing is displayed on the screen which then limit me from progressing in updating the board.

    It sounds like you're doing things right...

    Perhaps it has. In which case you should be able to find it from your laptop. At a terminal issue an 'arp -a' command. This will list all the IP & MAC addresses connected to your network. Tie up the MAC address of your unit with the IP address listed.

    For the sake of completeness, I'd also simply try another network cable.
