How to write to flash on Altera DE2

We've figured out how to read from the flashmemory on the Altera DE2 using vhdl, but we would also like to write. It just turns out to be difficult and we haven't got it working. Anyone here who has succeeded in writing to the flashmemory using only vhdl?
