I used the quartus 9.0 to open a project which was created by quartus 5.0. But I encounter some problem as below:

Quartus II 5.0 is too old.
It maybe useful to delete or regenerate the STP file. Note the IP core! The old IP core may work wrong in Quartus 9.0 . - Altera_Forum
you'll need to re-generate the .stp file before compilation
