How to change the parameters of a Qsys component on the fly

Hi forum,

Is it possible to change a component parameter while the system is running? I need to change, lets say, the max count of a counter. That number will be sent via SPI from an ARM and i already have a ST Avalon SPI component in my system, how would i go about it?
