Free and easier way to transfer bulk data into FPGA

Hi,

I am working on a face detection project and for that purpose I have to transfer image data into cyclone II FPGA (Altera DE II kit). I have experience of using Altera's PCI Express application but this board has no PCIE connection. The only other way in my mind is UART(way too slow).

Please tell me a free available core with software or any idea so that I have to spend minimum time on peripherals. I am working on windows platform so please suggest me software solutions available on windows.
