ELPD damaged

Hello,

I am working with 5M570ZT100 devices. On normal operation (in the product) the boards work well, but during lab manipulations some devices are damaged : the Vccint and Vccio1 or Vccio2 are short-circuited to the ground.

I guess that we do something wrong during measurement on board, but what ?

Is it a ESD problem ? An unintentional short-circuit on one of the I/O ? Did you see this king of problem before ?

    Hi,

    There are many reasons.

    1.While testing /manipulating power and ground could have shorted.(If there are connectors , berg stick & jumper with power and ground this may occur)

    2.Maintaining Proper common grounding(i have damaged cyclone iv with same issues there was a minor shock which i was filling when i touch the spacers of my board it was working fine after 2 day it got vcc and gnd shorted than after debugging power path, we have removed FPGA and tested and we found FPGA was damaged)

    3.Also it can be because of ESD.

    Hello,

    Thank you for this response. In this case I need to :

    1- Protect outputs with serial resistors to limit the current.

    2- Prepare a layout with a robust ground.

    3- Protect power supplies with TVS.
