Can MMC-5.1 devices used on Arria-10's mmc-4.5 controller?

Hi,

We think about using Sandisk iNAND products (MMC 5.0 / 5.1) for booting our Arria10-Soc based board.

However the iNAND devices are all MMC-5+, whereas the Arria-10 controller only supports up to MMC-4.5.

Is mmc backward compatible and therefore will those newer devices work with the older controller in the Arria?
