audio mic input altera de2

hi guys, So I am totally new at this and would like to get some help on how to implement a verilog code that will have an input audio from the mic in jack. And if audio is detected, I will have one of the LED's turn on.

If anyone can give me a tip on where and how to start this

    I also need a bit of help on this. I dont know where to start. I've been programming the DE2 using VHDL and blocks/schematic but never gone further. Where to start? (apart from reading the datasheet for the audio CODEC)? - knowing where to start is difficult!

    t34mt sorry for hijacking the thread, it looks like we are faced with similar problem
