APEX 20KE400EFC672 repalcement

Hi, I'm using Altera Apex 20KE400EFC672 for years and it is time to phase out as it is no more available in market. is there any Pin to pin compatible replacement for the same? I cannot change anything in my hardware as it costs me a lot. Please suggest if any one has done this in past.

Thanks in advance

Balu.

    moving to a more modern part will require a board respin I am afraid. Pin compatability only usually exists within the same family.

    You have a couple of options;

    1. Contact a distributor that can find out-of-stock parts, eg., America II Electronics.

    http://www.americaii.com/

    2. Contact a company that makes chip adapters, eg.,

    http://www.arieselec.com/products/overview-correct-a-chip-sockets-adapters.htm

    The "problem" with a chip adapter is that you need to "adapt" the FPGA and its configuration source.

    3. Determine the cost of a new board spin.

    You may find that (3) is not really as bad as you think.

    Cheers,
