Any VGA references please?

I'm new in Verilog and VGA.

Despite ambition in being profeesional,I've encountered a lot of problems on VGA and I can't even make anything shown on screen except modifying the VGA_Pattern.v file of DE1.

So,it's extremely hard for me to get through this and I hope u could give me some advice or names of books,urls or so on.
