altera epf6016 5 Volt connection schematic

Hi to all,

i were looking for a 5volt fpga device and i've found that ALTERA FLEX 6000 could be the right choice.

In order to configure and program this device it's necessary to connect the fpga to configuration device (eeprom, serial flash and so on) and download the configuration file via appropriate probe.

Is there any schematic of this kind of connection?

What kind of configuration device i have to use? EPC1441 is the right one?

Could you help me in resolving these issues?

    FLEX 6000 may well be a suitable device. Have you found anyone actually selling them? That is a very old device family...

    If you need 5V compatible I/O then I'd suggest you do this level translation outside of the FPGA. This would allow you to use a much newer device (that will be available and much, much cheaper).

    You could configure the FPGA with a serial configuration device, similar to the EPC1441. However, again, I'd suggest a newer, cheaper and more widely available device (such as an EPCS equivalent).

    is it possible to configure FLEX 6000 family fpgas with a serial flash device as EPCS? I don't find any datasheet or application note that explains this thing.
