Hi Nial,
Before using the MTI or Altera IP, and having the subtleties of JESD204B hidden from me, I want to get some basic transceiver interface tests working first, and then look at the JESD204B traffic ... once I have some data flowing, the JESD204B standard and the ADC data sheet will be easier to read, and then I can see if its easy enough to create the IP from scratch, or see if I should use the MTI or Altera IP.
I'll post my results to the forum.

I thought the Xilinx IP was free but it looks like it isn't....
http://www.xilinx.com/products/intellectual-property/ipaccess_fee.htm So there isn't much pressure on Altera to release a free core. :-(
