8B10B within the ALTGXB in Arria II GX Fibre Channel compliant?

I am trying to test the SFP fibre interface with ALTGX megafuntion with 8b/10b encoding and decoding. I am sending a counter data to ALTGXB module and looping it back using an external fibre optical loopback cable connected to an SFP. I test the same design with HSMC transceiver using Altera’s loopback board that came with Arria IIGX development board and it works. The SFP is from Finisar and the part number is FTLF8524P2BNL and from the datasheet it shows that the default encoding on the SFP is 8b/10b.

I found from this http://www.altera.co.uk/support/kdb/solutions/rd07302004_1831.html Altera site that ALTGX has issues with 8b/10b over fibre. The SR seems to be dated feb 2006, and I am hoping, this issue does not exist with the newer versions of software and chips.

Can anyone please help me with this issue?

Thanks,

Kumaran

I can't help with this issue but can I ask you a quick question?

I also want to drive an optical SFP module but from a Cyclone IV GX, did you just connect direct? and what settings did you make for the tx/rx analogue in the megawizard.

    Thanks
