new to Cyclone kit and need some code

I bought a Cyclone II development board and installed Quartus and would like to try it out. Where can I find some simple Verilog or VHDL code to do something like a counter or something that responds to the pushbutton? Where is it written which pin on the chip is connected to the button or the LED or the whatever?

You need to locate the schematic for the kit. That will tell you the pin connections.

If you can find an example Quartus design for the kit, then you can get most of the pin definitions from the example.

    Which kit do you have?

EP2C20F484C7N with ten switches, four pushbuttons, four-digit LED display, two things that look like IDE connectors, and a clear sheet covering most of it.
