Is it possible to use Arria 10's transceiver with 64b/66b for custom data protocol?

I plan to use device reading serial data with 64b/66b encoding. I would like to use Arria 10 SX device for this purpose. However, in the guide I found this note:

"Note: The 64B/66B decoder is available to implement the 10GBASE-R protocol."

I would need to know whether I can use 64b/66b only for 10GBAS ethernet or also for my own custom data protocol.

    HI Petr, Short answer to your question is YES. Intel Stratix 10 FPGA has NativePHY IP to control feature usable in transceiver channel. For instance, 64b/66b encoder/decoder is one of the feature that user can freely enable or disable in NativePHY IP. NativePHY IP doesn't limit user usage over the feature. It's really up to user how you plan to enable/disable certain feature and how you want to use it. Thanks. Regards, dlim
