DE2 board does not appear in Programmer

I could install the driver software from Quartus II web edition and the DE2 board appears in device manager. But it doesn't appear in Quartus Programmer when I should download my logic. What am I doing wrong? I use Windows 7 and the latest Altera software. I can start the Quartus Programmer from both the Nios II IDE and the Quartus II IDE, but neither way will make my DE2 appear in hardware...when I try probe for hardware, I get a JTAG error. Can you help me?

I reset the device, I reinstalled drivers, I reinstalled Quartus II, I tried the previous version of Quartus II and none of these options work.
