Hi jcanion-csn,
Could you please share:
1) Your OS (Windows/Linux) and Quartus version
2) Whether Quartus Programmer can see “USB-Blaster” in Hardware Setup
3) What error text you see when programming fails
Quick checks that resolve most cases:
- Reinstall the USB-Blaster driver from the Quartus install folder (quartus\drivers) and confirm the device shows correctly in Device Manager
- In Quartus Programmer, use Auto Detect to confirm the FPGA is visible before trying to program flash.

Thanks for your efforts. I attempted your suggestions, no luck
The other boards are fine, it's these (2) that will not allow me/my students.
I will create a video for you to review.
- We launch the project and open it, then select Processing> Tools. The good boards we can flash.
- Same sequence #1, except the board is inserted and cannot be controlled. It continues to 1-2-3-4-6.....F and loops in the demo start-up code.
- We have spent too much time on this ?? We will need to purchase (2) boards. We had requested Altera University for a donation, we ended up purchasing (10) from Terasic. Thanks again for your efforts.

Hi Jeff,
you reported that USB Blaster driver is working on the computer because other boards can be accessed.
State of failing boards isn't however completely clear.
1. Is DE10-Lite board recognized as USB Blaster (can be selected in Quartus Programmer Hardware Setup)?
2. If yes, what's the result of "Auto Detect"?
As stated in user manual, Terasic Control Panel has to be closed before accessing the board with Quartus.
Regards
Frank
P.S.: If step 1 fails, you should check if and how the USB device is displayed in Windows Device Control Manager. Possible cases: Shown not all (defective USB interface) or with wrong VID/PID due to corrupted FT245 EEPROM.- FakhrulA_altera1 month ago

Hi Jeff,
Any updates ? Per Frank’s questions, could you confirm for a failing board:- In Quartus Programmer > Hardware Setup, can you select USB-Blaster?
- What does Auto Detect show (device listed or nothing)?
Also:
- What OS and Quartus version are you using?
- When it fails, what is the exact error message shown in Quartus Programmer?
