DE0-Nano Tutorial for Nios II <-> Cyclone communication

I've seen a lot of tutorials for programming the FPGA on the DE0-Nano and for the Nios II but is there a tutorial for communicating between the two? ... Like adding a counter in FPGA and using that c...

You could do your counter in Verilog or VHDL and add it as a custom instruction to nios or a new component in Qsys.
