Concept on how to use LTC header pins in FPGA (DE1-SoC):

Dear Forum, can anyone tell me the concept/steps how to use the LTC connection in my DE1-SoC FPGA (NIOS2)?

I would like to use the SPI in my FPGA. I found a lot of threads but no one who tells me the general concept. Do you need to setup any HPS device to feed them through? Is there maybe any application note or examples?
