Boot from EPCS (No NIOS)

Is there a way to install a full-blow copy of u-boot into EPCS on a DE10-Nano to boot the board from it (without NIOS)? if yes how? Thanks!

I think the following link is a good example to configure U-boot to store environment in QSPI flash.
