Best way to learn from Cyclone II DE1 Kit

Hi, am a newbie to FPGA design and recently purchased the Cyclone II DE1 for educational purposes.

Want to find the best approach to getting up and running...

Have taken a look at the entire altera website and am going through the different videos, training courses, etc. to get some basic understanding of HDLs, Quartus II, etc.

Are there any good step by step designs out there for the DE1 Dev Kit that demonstrate a lot of the available functions?

    You can begin with tutorials on CD for your bord or search something like "my first fpga project" on youtube.
